Name: Jim White Outside Interests: When I'm not tattooing I like to build Lowrider Bycicles in a small, shanty- like apartment in South Central, PA. I also collect all kinds of low brow and tiki art, and make noise around town in my 61' Chevy BelAir. Musical Taste: I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, some of my favorites include; Devo, The Legendary Shack Shakers Bad Brains, James Brown, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, The Ventures, Dick Dale and his Del Tones, Reverend Horton Heat, The Skatalites, Motorhead, Mastadon, The Haunted, Iron Maiden, The Crown, and NWA. |

History: I have been into drawing since my first art class in school. Mostly, I would try
to emulate the designs I would see on skateboards as a kid. My style would later
lean toward lowbrow art and tattoo designs. After high school I landed an apprenticeship
at a small, local tattoo shop in Syracuse, NY. I worked in that area
for several years. I moved to the New Jersy/ New York area about 6 years ago
and have really done a lot of growing as a tattoo artist since. Altogether, I have
been tattooing for about 11 years and am now happy to be working with Stacy,
Linda, and the whole gang at Chrome Gardens. Tattoo Influences: The people I look up to the most in this industry are; Phillip Leu, Guy Aitchison, Jack Rudy, Bugs, Tin- Tin, Bob Roberts, Grime, Martin Lacasse, Greg Irons, Gunnar, and Eric Merell. A lot of my influences also come from Low Brow art. Some of my favorite artists from that genre are; Ed Roth, Rober Williams, Pizz, Von Franco, Mr. G., Dirty Donny, and Jeral Tidwell. Best Tattoo Advice: I would suggest always looking at an artists portfolio to see the quality, consistancy, and style of their work. This is so you know what you are getting yourself into. It is also a good idea to be open minded with your artists ideas and suggestions while planning your tattoo. After all, we are professionals and your satisfaction is our main goal. |
